RIOTING IN SPAIN
DESTRUCTION OF CHURCHES. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 9.25 p.m.) Madrid, May 11. Though the general strike was virtually ineffective, rioting continues in many places. Three hundred arrests were made in Barcelona. Bomb explosions in the Palace of Justice and Town Hall at Corunna caused heavy damage. Four churches in the province were destroyed by fire and three were partly burned on the second anniversary of the burning of monasteries and convents following the establishment of the republic. Strikers also bombed churches at Burgos, and there was considerable disorder and damage at Hogta.
