TOWN BOARD MEETING. (From Our Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Edendale Town Board was held in the board room on Tuesday evening, Mr G. Dempster, presiding over the following: Commissioners W. W. Chaplin, A. McMillan, W. Irvine, T. Hickey, M. Turner and R. K. McDonald,
The ranger reported thdt the wandering stock pest had not been very troublesome, while the controlling of motor traffic had been pleasantly carried out. However he suggested the board setting aside a parking area at Matheson’s comer. He also reported that the road to the pit required a few loads of gravel. There had been 189 yards of gravel put on the roads during the month. Correspondence. J. Marshall, Edendale, wrote apply-
ing for permission to carry out rabbiting on the scenic reserve.—Granted. The Edendale Tennis Club _ wrote applying for permission and assistance to re-lay one of the playing courts at the recreation reserve. On the motion of Commissioners Hickey and McDonald the board take the necessary steps to get men to do the work. Mr S. Reid, Edendale, wrote applying for permission 'to sell milk in and about the town. Referred to health inspector.
Robert White, Edendale, wrote enclosing the following motion carried at a meeting of ratepayers on April 29: "That this meeting of ratepayers desires to draw attention to the fact that the bulk of the gravel contract for the ensuing twelve months had been allotted without calling tenders as in accordance with the minutes of the board, and also recommends that in future all tenders be called by publishing same in the Press.” The letter was received.
Regarding the new domes erected, Commissioner Irvine said that along with Commissioner Turner, he had inspected these and they thought further domes should be erected at Matheson’s Comer, McMillan’s Corner, Hall Corner and Post Office. Left to Works Committee.
A discussion took place in regard to the traffic clearance at Matheson’s Corner and after consideration it was resolved to inspect the area at an early date.
On the motion of Commissioners Irvine and Turner it was resolved to ask Mrs Brown to cut back the fence at the corner of Hall street so as to give a clear view of approaching traffic, and also that motorists in the town be asked to sound their horns when backing out of right-of-ways in the town area.
It was resolved that tenders be called fox - the supply of gravel for the next twelve months, tenders to close on the evening of the June meeting.
