ESCAPEE ARRESTED
CAPTURE BY CONSTABLE. DAY AND NIGHT WATCH. (Per United Press Association.) Gisborne, May 5. A native, Pekawa Pouaka Whakataka, who was arrested at Ruatoria charged with the theft of a motor cycle, escaped from custody. No trace of him could be found for several days. Ultimately Constable Ryan stationed himself day and night on a high hill overlooking the country round Tuparoa, from whence through glasses he observed the escapee and then effected his arrest.
