RUSSIAN CHILD
PASSPORT DIFFICULTIES. TROUBLE RAISED BY SOVIET. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, April 21. The twelve-year-old Russian child, Gilina Bogatiroff, who was found in Stretensk, Siberia, through the efforts of the Red Cross, after having been lost trace of since she was a few months old, is finding difficulty in returning to her family as trouble is being raised by the Soviet on the question of her passport. Soon after the child was found the Red Cross authorities considered that the child would be able to travel with a British passport, which could be obtained at a small cost, but now it is stated the Soviet considers her a Russian subject and the price for a Russian passport is 300 dollars, which is absolutely prohibitive for the Red Cross.
The High Commissioner and Home authorities have been approached, but so far no arrangements have been made
