FOOTBALL. (From Our Correspondent,) The annual meeting of the Wairio Football Club was held in Gardner’s Hall on Tuesday evening, when Mr H. Laytham occupied the chair. The balance-sheet was read and adopted, and showed a creditable balance on the year’s working. Officers were elected as follows: President, Mr G. W. Gardner; vicepresidents, Messrs J. J. Finn, S. J. Collie, J. Valli, sen., and C. Rollo; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Collie; club captain, Mr G. W. Gardner; coaches. Messrs JVI. Forde and R. Bates; committee, the president, secretary, Messrs W. Pope, J. J. Finn, W. Wright, J. Forde and M. Forde; selectors, Messrs G. W. Gardner and M. Forde. On the chairman’s casting vote it was resolved not to enter a team in the Western District competition this year, but it was decided to play friendly matches with other clubs. The flag five hundred in aid of the funds of the Anglican Church was well patronized on Saturday evening, the winners being Messrs R. Bates, C. Ross and J. Fielding.
