Mrs M. J. Forde left on Thursday to spend an extended holiday in the North Island. Misses Edna and Ella Norman, Forest Hill, who have been spending a holiday in Balclutha as the guests of Mrs D. Andrews, returned home last week. Mrs R. J. Anderson, Kauana, is spending a holiday at Pleasant Point and Oamaru. Mr and Mrs S. E. Griffiths and Misses Gwen. Betty and Peggy Griffiths, of Dunedin, were visitors to Winton last week for the Griffiths-Gilmour wedding. Mrs W. H. Dixon, of Lilburne, is the guest of her sister, Mrs J. H. McKenzie, Barkly. Mr and Mrs Robb, of London, who have been visiting relatives at Lochiel, left last week on their journey home. Mrs A. M. Wilson and Miss I. Gilmour, of Roxburgh, were the guests of Mrs R. M. Gilmour for the Grif- j fiths-Gilmour wedding. Mrs R. Swale (Boggy Burn) and Mi t and Mrs M. Kean (South Hillend) left last week on a motor trip through Central Otago. Mrs H. Kirkpatrick, Gore, was the guest of Mrs E. M. Raines last week. Mrs M. Hogan, Hcddon Bush, spent a few days in Invercargill last week. Mrs R. Halliday, Invercargill, is visiting her sister, Mrs W. Hamilton, Miss Otto Munro, of Dunedin, has been visiting her aunt, Miss D. Wilson, I Park street. ; Mr and Mrs A. Auld, formerly of > Winton and now of Mataura, are the , guests of Mrs F. Clayton, Park street. Mrs M. Reilly is visiting Dunedin. Last Wednesday evening an enjoy- ( able dance was staged in Hamilton’s , I Hall under the auspices of Misses : Pearce and Wilson. There was a good ■ attendance present, and with an excellent floor and music* by the Lyric Orchestra an enjoyable evening was . spent by all. Snowball and streamer ' dances provided plenty of amusement. Extras were contributed by Misses M. Melton and M. Kilkelly, while Mr C, Grant carried out the duties of M.C. An enjoyable kitchen evening was held in the South Hillend Hall on March 28 in honour of Miss Ella Plunkett, whose marriage takes place shortly. The hall was filled with guests from far and near, showing the popularity of the young lady, and the fine array of gifts showed the esteem in which she was held. The presentation was made by Mr W. D. Sinclair, Mr R. Gordon also speaking. Mr J. ; Plunkett responded on behalf of his ' daughter. During the evening a song was sung by Miss C. Langford, and a . bouquet, made by Mrs Sinclair, w ® s : presented by Joan Langford to the ; guest of honour. Music was supplied i by Messrs A. E. and T. Langford and • B. Wilson, Messrs J. Langford, D. Mc- : Grath and W. Bailey. An extra was ' played by Miss N. O’Connor. Mr J. I Bailey made an efficient M.C.
