HEAVY FINES

BETTING IN THE STREET. (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, February 24. Fines of £lOO each were imposed on Charles Joseph Williams and James Leonard Purves, who were charged with frequenting the street for the purpose of betting. The police said that both were perfectly open about the matter.
