RIVERSDALE NOTES
(From Our Correspondent). On Saturday evening a meeting of the Riversdale branch of the Plunket Society was held, it being decided to hold a garden fete at the residence of Mrs Joseph Green on Friday afternoon, February 24. Donations of cakes and anything saleable were solicited in order to help the funds of the society. .Mrs Paterson presided over the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute. There was an attendance of over 20 members. At the opening of the meeting, the president requested all present to stand in silence as a mark of respect to several members who have recently suffered bereavements in their families. A lengthy debate took place concerning the continuation of the Home Science boxes for the coming year. It was ultimately decided that the boxes be discontinued in future owing to-lack of time. All present were reminded by the president of the annual meeting to be held on Wednesday, March 15, when the election of officebearers will be held. When the roll call was answered each member gave a suggestion for the new programme.
