Among the passengers for Stewart Island by the Tamatea yesterday morning were Messrs J. A. and P. E. Sloane, of Mulwele, New South Wales, and Mr Roland Ellis, of Dunedin. A British Official Wireless message states that Mr Lloyd George, who has been suffering from a slight chill, is reported much better but will remain indoors for two or three days. Dr J. L. Steans, James Stewart and C. S. Longuet. The address was worded as follows: To Mr J, A. McPherson, N.D.H. (N.Z.), Superintendent of Reserves, Invercargill, Sir, on behalf of the Invercargill Garden Club, we desire to express to you our sincere regret at your departure from this city and whilst congratulating you on your appointment to a similar responsible position, it is our considered opinion that your departure is a distinct loss to our. city. We feel it is our duty to record thanks for the valued support you have always given the Garden Club and appreciation of the splendid displays you have from time to time set up at our shows. We wish to express our best wishes for your future and feel sure that your ability and knowledge will be readily recognized in your new appointment.” The address bore the signatures of the following executive members of the club: J. L. Lennie, A. H. Smith, J. Bayne, W. Smith, C. E. Hayes, F. A. Steans, P. A. Plumer, James Stewart, (Mrs) S. Craig, C. S. Longuet and (Mrs) N. A. Acton. A presentation of a floral bouquet to Mrs McPherson was made on behalf of the lady members of the club. During the evening musical items were given by Messrs Roberts, Gunn, le Petit, F. Johnson and A. Credgington, Miss M. Fitzgerald playing the pianoforte accompaniments. Votes of thanks were passed to the ladies by Mr Plumer and to the performers by Mr McPherson.
