HOKONUI SCHOOL
ANNUAL BREAK-UP. (From Our Correspondent.) The Hokonui School break-up took the form of a picnic in the school grounds at which most of the parents were present. In the absence of the chairman, Mr T. Paterson, Mr J. T. Smith thanked the school mistress, Miss Hamilton, for the special prizes donated by her for dux. The prize was won by W. McLeod, the one for writing by Aileen Robb, and the one for spelling by Bob Frisby. At the conclusion of the picnic afternoon tea was dispensed and one and all enjoyed a splendid afternoon’s fun. The presents from the Christmas tree were then distributed to the little ones. The results of the races were as follows: Boys 5-7—Tom Frisby, Bill Leckie, R. Anglem. Girls 5-7—May Anglem, Kathie Sims, Jean Paterson. Boys 7-9— Norman Paterson, Bob Smith, Charlie Frisby. Girls 7-9—Helen McDonald, Maureen Sims, Thelma Leckie. Boys 9-11—Charlie Smith, Colin McDonald, Graham Paterson. Girls 9-11—Doris McMillan, Joyce Thompson, Aileen Robb. Boys, 11 and over—Dave Smith, Keith Little, Henry Rance. Girls 11 and over—Grace Paterson, Grace Svenson, Rita Carrol. Boys’ three-legged race, under 10—Colin McDonald and Charlie Smith, Rewi Anderson and Graham Paterson. Over 10—Dave Smith and Keith Little, Rewi Anderson and Henry Rance. Girls under 10—Aileen Robb and Helen McDonald, Joyce Thompson and Maureen Sims. 10 and over—Rita Carrol and Grace Svenson, Grace Paterson and Myra Carrol. Young ladies” race—Miss V. Robb, Miss M. Patterson, Miss D. Rose. Balay race
