Aldous Huxley in one of his essays speaks of his horror of the obvious in art. It was, therefore, to be. expected that an anthology by him, which Chatto and Windus is publishing, would have original features. To' begin with, it is called “Texts and Pretexts,” and probably not a tenth of the contents has appeared in an anthology, before. Mr Huxley selects by the subject,, not the author, and the consequence is a very personal volume. Canon Streeter’s Bampton Lectures on “The Budda and The Christ” is published by Macmillan.
