MINISTERIAL. The Postmaster-General (the Hon. Adam Hamilton) arrived in Invercargill from Wellington by last evenings express. His visit south will extend over about a fortnight. A Wellington telegram records the death of Mr Martyn Hume, Vice-Pre-sident of the Wellington Stock Exchange. Miss Joyce Sampson, who is in the Presbyterian Maori Mission at Opotiki, arrived on holiday by the express last evening. In the recent University examinations, Mr F. Calder, Lochiel, gained a further section of the B.Sc. degree, passing in Chemistry 11. and Geology 1. The Southland Education Board has made the following appointments: Miss Ada C. Tempero, at present on the Otago Board’s relieving staff, to be assistant at the Brydone School; Miss Isabella Morton, now assistant at. tne Makarewa School, to a similar position at the Invercargill South School; Mr Robert Hanning to be assistant at the East Gore School; and Mr Lindsay Tamblyn to be assistant at Nightcaps School.
