SAVED BY DOG

ESCAPE FROM BLAZING HOUSE. ANIMAL MEETS CRUEL FATE. (Per United Press Association.) New Plymouth, December 22. Warned by the anxious whining of a dog, Mr J. R. Hansen’s household at Okato awakened to find the house in flames. They had only time to snat-h the bedclothes and leave the fierce./ burning building. The fire also swept several farm buildings. The faithful dog who probably saved three lives met a cruel fate. Mr Hansen was returning from telephoning the insurance company which held policies for £550 when a motor car ran over the dog and killed it. Mr Hansen recently voluntarily reduced the insurance of the furniture.
