TENNIS CLUB MEETING. (From Our Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Tennis Club was held last Monday. The president, Mr W. L. Stewart, presided over a good attendance of members. The year had seen a great improvement in the club’s property and in its finances. He said he was pleased that they had again entered in the Western District competition and suggested playing friendly matches with surrounding clubs as a means of improving the standard of play. The annual balance sheet showed a credit of £l4 which was excellent considering the amount of improvement work done during the year. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr G. Galt; secretary, Mr N. Evans.; club captain, Mr W. McKenzie; committee, the above with Misses G. Lindsay, B. Strang, G. Matchett and Mr H. Rance. It was decided to pay off £5 on the Sports Trust loan, making £l5 for this year. The question of Sunday play was raised, and, after considerable discussion, it was decided to leave the decision to an open ballot of all members. Miss K. Macpherson has taken up her duties as assistant mistress in the local school.
