ROUGH PASSAGE

NEW ZEALAND YACHT. ARRIVAL AT SYDNEY. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.5 p.m.) Sydney, October 30. Displaying fortitude worthy of oldtime adventurers in cockleshells, five men reached Sydney overnight from Auckland in the 13-ton motor yacht Beth. The party consisted of Mr T. Webb and his two sons, of Adelaide, and Cecil Bowman and Basil Stallard, of New Zealand. They were dogged by storms, terribly confused seas, many of which broke overboard. The wind was howling all the time. One of the Webbs was thrown from his bunk three times, sea-sickness was prevalent aboard. Wretched weather prevailed all the way from Norfolk and Lord Howe Islands, but the little craft rode the seas well. Some members of the party cherished not the slightest hope of getting through safely.
