Up till 1875 toll was levied on old Lambeth Bridge. Later the bridge was declared toll free. The actual ceremony was performed by the Prince of Wales, afterwards Edward VII, accompanied by his two small sons. After his speech, declaring the bridge toll free, the prince rode aeress tt.-
