COLLAPSE OF CHILD. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, October 24. While sitting on her mother’s knee at 7.30 last evening a girl aged two years, named Dawn Lilian Mills, collapsed and died before medical aid arrived. At the inquest evidence was given that the child had been in a delicate state of health for some time and did not have the use of its legs. The inquest, was adjourned. DEATH OF HIKER. Auckland, October 24. The death occurred in the Auckland Hospital this morning of William Stephenson, aged 52 years. Stephenson collapsed while taking part in a “mystery hike” a week ago yesterday. He was a well-known billiard player. He was professional champion until Clark McConachy defeated him about 1912.
