The Bank Line motor- ship Comilebank is due at New Plymouth to-morrow with sulphur from Galveston. ■ V The motor ship TJranakl left Las Palmas on September 27 in continuation of her voyage from New Zealand to the United Kingdom. She sailed from Auckland on August 26 after completing loading. The Bank Line steamer Tymeric was to clear Wanganui on September 30 for Sydney, where sne will be docked for inspection following her grounding while entering the port at Wanganui on September 17. From Sydney she will proceed to Newcastle, where she will bunker for a further trip to the Islands. After lying idle in England since the end of June the Shaw, SavUl and Albion liner Mataroa is scheduled to leave Southampton for Wellington and Auckland on October 7. She is due at Wellington on November 9. The assistant secretary of marine, Mr B. W. Mlllier. advises that a new copy of Chart No. 1423, Port Nicholson, showing large corrections, has been published and may be purchased at Mercantile Marine offices. Existing copies are thereby cancelled. The motor ship Southern Cross, which is due at Auckland this week from Greenwich, is fitted with two Gardner Diesel engines of the two-stroke type. Each develops 120 h.p. and has five cylinders, 9in diameter by Ilin stroke. Al 9 h.p. two-cylinder Gardner high-speed Diesel engine is used to drive the auxiliary machinery, including a dynamo, water pump and air compressor. The vessel is 106 ft overall, 90ft waterline and 25ft beam, and was built by J. S. White and Co., of Cowes. „ At the annual meeting of the West Coast Refrigerating Co., Ltd., it was stated by the manager that the coastal vessel Hawera, when steam propelled, did 66 trips in a year, carrying a total of 62.949 crates, with an average load of 947 crates. Now, as a motor-ship, the -vessel had done 56 trips, carrying 76,428 crates, an average of 1356 crates for a trip. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
