NEW ZEALAND BUDGET
FAVOURABLE COMMENT. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, October 5. The City editor of The Times says the New Zealand Budget should enhance the country’s credit. It reflects the highest credit on the leaders. The policy of reducing borrowing is thoroughly sound, but there is little scope for saving by conversion because the average interest debt is below the rate at which fresh borrowing is possible. GROUNDS FOR OPTIMISM. (Rec. 9.25 p.m.) London, October 6. Financial and other papers give prominence to New Zealand’s financial statement. , The Financial News says Mr Forbes 3 Budget is based on a distinctly optimistic view of the prospects of the Dominion, but there are reasonable grounds for optimism.
