REASONS FOR LOWER FUR PRICES. Furs are sold in the overseas markets on very similar lines to those on which the Wool Sales are conducted here—the skins are auctioned in large lots. With large orders in hand to supply five branches in New Zealand, “Pattison Ede” are able to buy direct from the auctions, where smaller furriers have to buy from the skin dealer, and pay the skin dealer’s extra profit. Thus direct buying, together with Direct Selling, makes fine quality furs available at hitherto unheard of low prices.
