STORY OF A BOMB PLOT. London, September 15. In quest of a supposed German Guy Fawkes created by the conflict between the Chancellor and the Reichstag Speaker, the police made a midnight search of the Reichstag cellars, the Berlin correspondent of The Times states. The search was ordered by the Chief of Police, who declared that he had received “reliable information,” of a bomb plot to blow up the building. The rooms of the Communist Party also were searched, and deputies’ lockers opened, but nothing was found except “two subversive publications and a book on railway construction.” The Reichstag’s permanent staff attempted to prevent the police entering without the Speaker’s authorization, but the police chief insisted that he must act -without delay . The Speaker (Herr Goering) was immediately informed, and protested .to the Chancellor that the police action was illegal* He demanded the punishment of those responsible.
