Licenses were issued to 2,078,000 road vehicles, excluding trade and tramcar licenses, in Great Britain during the six months ending May 31, an increase of 36,000 on the same period last year. But only 22,206 mechanically propelled vehicles were licensed for the first time in May this year, as compared with 28,515 in May, 1931. A native keeper, shut by accident in a Cape Town zoo at night, wandered into a lion's den and was killed by the lion.
