OVER 2000 COMPETITORS. HEAT AFFECTS NEW ZEALANDERS. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Los Angeles, July 25 A flag-bedecked Los Angeles greeted a strong contingent of athletes and officials from Britain, Canada, South Africa and Hungary on Monday, swelling to more than 2000 the number of competitors now here. Jimmy Hall, the Winnipeg 400 metres representative, developed a carbuncle on the right leg and may be unable to compete. The New Zealand boxers, who are training hard, have been somewhat affected by the heat. H. F. Thomas, while sparring with a big partner, received a cut above the lip necessitating three stitches. The runner S. A. Black has returned to the track following hospital treatment for back soreness.
