Bovone and Sbardoletto were shot at dawn in the courtyard of the fortress at Bravetta by a squad of 24 Fascist militia. Bovone received the sacrament and asked God for pardon. Sbardoletto waved a priest aside. Bovone and Sbardoletto were sentenced to death following the trial of nine Fascists in connection with plots against Signor Mussolini.
