OTAUTAU
Coombes, Invercargill, was the guest of Mr and Mrs R. Broomfield recently. Mrs Laing is spending a few days m Dunedin. Mr and Mrs J. Ross, former residents, were renewing acquaintances in .the township during the week. Mrs Connell is visiting friends at Bluff. ‘ The Rev. and Mrs R. A. Forde and family left Otautau on Wednesday on the first stage of their journey to England. Mr and Mrs F. Reed and Miss Reed, Takahopa, were the guests of Mr and Mrs J. H. Smith recently. Mr and Mrs A. L. Paterson were tendered a welcome home in the Scott’s Gap hall by the residents, when there was a large attendance. The function took the form of a dance, to music supplied by Mr and Mrs Ridder, Messrs King, Gibb, Hawthorne. Watson and Ayton brothers, while Mr E. Iremonger officiated as M.C. Mr John Evans extended a welcome to Mr and Mrs Paterson and on behalf of the residents
wished them every success and prosperity. In reply Mr Paterson thanked the speaker for his kind remarks. Amongst those present were: Mr and Mrs A. L. Paterson, Mr and Mrs J. G. Beck (2), Salton, James (2), Paterson, Keen, Smith, McCully, Price, Iremonger (2), Brown, Dickson (2), Ayton, Muir, Hawkins, Watson, Luckie, Lambert and Dodds, Messrs Liddell, Ridder, Simon, McKenzie (2), Guise, Watson, Kane, Sturgess, Taylor (3), Brown (3), Evans, Sheddan (2), Collie, Smith (2), Jones, Muirhead, Ayton (2), Gibb, Iremonger, Price (2), McCully (2).
