GENERAL NOTES. The Tamatea sails on her weekly trip to Stewart Lsland to-day, leaving Bluff at 10.15 a.m. and returning to connect with the 6.18 p.m. train for Invercargill. The ketch Lily left for Stewart Island at 3.5 a.m. yesterday and returned to Bluff at 5.25 p.m. with a cargo of cased fish. The fresh oyster carrier Taratahi sailed for Wellington at 7.25 a.m. yesterday with a full cargo of oysters. The Union Company’s coastal freighter Waipiata, at present at Auckland, is to leave at 5 p.m. to-morrow for Napier, Wellington, Lyttdton, Dunedin and Bluff. She is due here on the 14t.h to discharge and load back general cargo. The Kartigi, which sailed from Timaru yesterday 'for Dunedin, will also call at Port Chalmers. This will make her a day late in arriving at Bluff where she is now due on Friday. Westport is her next port of' call. Clearing Melbourne to-day, the Union Company’s intercolonial cargo steamer Wainui is expected to arrive at Bluff on Monday. After putting ashore the local portion of her Australian cargo she will sail the same day for Dunedin, Lyttelton and Wellington. On the following Monday she will return to Bluff to sail direct for Melbourne. The Canterbury Shipping Company’s coastal trader Storm left Wellington yesterday for Bluff. She is due to-morrow to discharge and load general cargo leaving upon completion for Dunedin. The Shaw, Sqvill liner Mahana, which sailed from Bluff on February 15 for London, via Panama canal and Jamaica, arrived at her destination on the morning of March 26. The same company’s Mahia which sailed from Wellington on March 8 for London via Panama, also cleared Kingston on Sunday on her homeward voyage. Cable advice has been received that the New Zealand Shipping Company's motor vessel Otaio arrived at Southampton on Sunday from the Dominion. The Waikouaiti from Newcastle, Sydney and Hobart is due at Bluff about April 15 to unload Australian cargo. Upon completing she will proceed to Dunedin, Lyttelton and Timaru. RUAHINE IN PORT. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Ruahine reached Bluff early yesterday afternoon and began working. After discharging paper pulp she loads frozen meat and other products and sails on completion for Timaru about Friday. The vessel sailed from London for New Zealand on February 11 and replenished her oil fuel bunkers at Curacoa on February 25. Colon was reached on February 27 and Balboa was cleared the following day. Continuous south-west gales and high seas were experienced during the passage from London to Curacao, but generally fair weather prevailed during the remainder of the voyage. Captain G. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s passenger and cargo steamer lonic which left Southampton on February 26 for Auckland and Wellington, is due at the former port to-day. She will proceed later to Wellington and then come down to Bluff, being due here on the 18th to load meat, dairy produce and general cargo. She will proceed thre days later to Timaru in continuation. The lonic is bringing the following passengers to New Zealand: Mrs E. and Miss M. Bacon, Mr and Mrs W. Catell, Mrs C. Galbraith, Mr C. Hann, Mr A. Hitchcock, Mr J. Hughes-Bonsall, Mr J. Jackson, Mrs E. Jones, Mr J. Lowe, Mr and Mrs E. Lilley, Mrs J. Martin, Mrs E. Muir and two boys, Mrs M. O’Neill, Miss K. Reilly, Mr S. Mrs and Miss B. Richards, Mrs J. Sommerville and boy, Mrs W. Tanner, Mrs D. de Veil and boy, Miss E. Whittaker. HERMINIUS DUE NEXT MONTH. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s cargo steamer Herminius left London on April 1 in ballast for New Zealand. Bluff will be her first port of call, the vessel being due here on May 9. After loading meat, dairy produce and general cargo she will proceed to Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington in continuation of her loading programme. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
