MURDER. IN HOBART
ELDERLY MAN SHOT. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 11.5 p.m.) Hobart, April 5. A cold-blooded murder was perpetrated in Harrington street, Hobart. The victim, Charles Whelan, aged 63, a watersider, was living alone. He was shot dead by two men who later were seen running away from the scene. A neighbour heard the men demanding money in the vilest language, also Whelan's protests, then a shot and a curse. The neighbour follower! the men for some distance, then returned and found Whelan dead.
