SHOOTING IN PRISON
WIFE FIRES AT HUSBAND. DEATH PREFERRED TO BANISHMENT. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) Paris, April 4. “I wanted to kill my husband to prevent him being sent to Devil’s Island,” moaned Georgette, the pretty blonde wife of Henri Charriere, when the police seized her after she had fired five shots at her husband through bars at the Frenes Prison, Henri was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder which Georgette protests she committed, They were allowed to exchange a last farewell through the bars when suddenly Georgette whipped a revolver from her handbag, intending to shoot him and then herself. All the shots missed. Georgette has been arrested on a charge of attempted murder,
