LONG RELAY RUN
DUNEDIN TO INVERCARGILL. The Dunedin Civil Service Harrier and Amateur Athletic Club which last Easter relayed the distance from Dunedin to Timaru (125 miles) will this Easter attempt the Dunedin to Invercargill road of approximately 140 miles. The-team will consist of 14 runners, each man running a lap of five miles on the first day, March 25, which will land the baton at Clinton. Here the team will stay the night and will leave Clinton at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, and given favourable conditions should arrive in Invercargill between 4 p.m. and 4.15 p.m. The baton to be used will be the same one as used on the Timaru trip and on this occasion will contain a message from the Mayor of Dunedin (Mr R. S. Black) to the Mayor of Invercargill (Mr John Miller). The team will stay the week-end in Invercargill and will return to Dunedin on Easter Monday.
