RIFLE SHOOTING

THE GORE CLUB. AGGREGATE COMPLETED. On Wednesday afternoon the final shoot for the second aggregate for a trophy presented by Mr C. M. Wilson was completed by the Gore Rifle Club. The ranges were 300, 500 and 600 yards, seven shots at each distance. The aggregate waS won by Rifleman A. Hay with a total score of 363, including handicap, his brother, Rifleman G. Hay, being next with a total of 358. Mr A. S. Fleming presented a trophy for the 300, 500 and 600 yards shoot, this being won by Rifleman Bain with 98, including three points handicap. Rain at the 600 yards distance made shooting difficult. Rifleman Bain put on the best scoYe off the rifle with 95 points, and also won the spoons for range prizes at 300 and 500 yards, his scores at. each distance being respectively 33 (scr) and 34 (one point handicap). Rifleman C. M. Wilson won the spoon for the 600 yards range with a score of 33, including two points handicap. The following are the detailed scores, handicaps being given in parentheses:—

The following are the leading scores in the club championship (scratch scores), two aggregates having been completed:—

Mr IT. McCorkindale is presenting a trophy for the highest scratch scores in the second and third aggregates. The following are the leaders: —J. Mathews 353, W. Milne 345, C. M. Wilson 338, G. Bain 337, A. Hay 332, I. Greenfield 331, C. France 326. There will be no further competition shooting until after the Easter holidays, and during the two following weeks the annual class firing will take place, after which the third aggregate will be commenced, Mrs J. Mathews has promised to donate a trophy for highest score in the class firing series.
