TENNIS MATCH. (From Our Correspondent.) On Wednesday last a match between Ohai A grade and the Tuata;>ere team was played on the local courts. The final scores were 8 sets each but the visitors had earned a victory by securing 92 games to Tuatapere’s 76. The scores were as follows, Chai players being first mentioned: — Ladies’ Singles: Mrs Duncan 6 v. Miss Wescombe 1; Mrs Martin 3 v. Miss Laurie 6; Mrs Hornby 1 v. Miss Laurie 6; Mrs Kitto 5 v. Mrs Stoneman 6. Men’s Singles: J. Vickers 8 v. G. E.’Higgins 9; S. Slater 9 v. R. Henderson 3; R.’Bird 2 v. G. Porter 9; J. Martin 9 v. J. S. Porter 3. Ladies’ Doubles: Mesdamcs Duncan and Martin 3 v. Miss Wescombe and Mrs Laurie 6; Mesdames Hornby and Kitto 2 v. Miss Laurie and Mrs Stoneman 6. Men’s Doubles: Vickers and Slater 9 v. Higgins and Porter 5; Bird and Martin 9 v. Henderson and Porter 4> Combined Doubles: Mrs Duncan and J. Vickers 5 v. Miss W’escombe and Higgins 7; Mrs Hornby and Slater 7 v. In the Gillies Cup Handicap Singles Competition matches Miss Kerse (scr) defeated Miss Weir (rec 18) 00—32. Mrs Higgin had to retire when playing Miss Laurie when the score was 40—34 in the latter’s favour. In the third round Miss Findlay (rec 15) plays Miss Wescombe (scr) ; Mrs Stoneman (rec 11) plays Miss Laurie (scr) ; Miss Kerse (scr) plays Mrs Henderson (rec 24).

Mr Jas. Young, of Branson’s Hotel, Dunedin, spent, a few days in Tuatapere, staying at the Waiau Hotel. Mr Alex. Wright, of the firm of Wright’s Ltd., Dunedin, motored through to Tuatapere. Later he left for Monowai and Te Anau and proposed to go by way of the new road to the head of the lake.
