LORRY CAPSIZES

BALES OF WOOL CATCH FIRE TRAIN HELD UP. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, February 22. A lorry heavily laden with wool capsized as it attempted to crass the railway line just south of Waikanae and immediately burst into flames. The bales of wool which spilled right across the railway crassing also caught fire and the conflagration lit up the countryside for miles. So fierce was the fire that the woodwork of the cattle-stop caught alight and held up the northbound express which arrived at Palmerston North about 70 minutes late. A long queue of motorists from both directions also had to wait until the fire subsided. The lorry, owned by the Highway Transport Company, was bringing a big load of wool from Shannon to Wellington. Despite the rain some of the bales of wool were still smouldering yesterday afternoon. The driver of the lorry was not seriously injured.
