ANNUAL PICNICS
OTAMITA GATHERING. HELD ON FRIDAY. After a lapse of two years the residents of Otamita decided to revive the annual picnic and a most successful gathering which attracted young and old from all parts of the district was held on Mr J. C. Dickson’s property. Although several showers fell during the morning the afternoon remained sufficiently fine to enable an interesting sports programme to be held and the various events provided keen contests'. The gathering was excellently organized, and under the direction of the chairman, Mr J. C. Dickson, the members of the committee spared no effort to make the day an enjoyable one. The children were particularly well catered for and the distribution of sweets and fruit was keenly welcomed by them.

Although not favoured by such fine weather as usual the Waimumu district picnic, held in the schoolgrounds on Friday afternoon, was an unqualified success ana attracted an excellent attendance of district residents as well as visitors from Mataura, Gore and Ferndale. An extensive and interesting sports programme was carried through and attracted large entries. Following the picnic a most successful dance was held in the evening.
