THE OLYMPIC “EIGHT.” (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, January 18. Local rowing associations are being asked by the Council of the New Zealand Rowing Association to forward nominations for seats in the Olympic “eight.” Mr E. Innes, chairman of the Council, and Messrs R. Hale (Marlborough), and 11. Ayres (Christchurch) have been appointed selectors. INTERPROVINCIAL EIGHTS. NO CREW FROM OTAGO. Dunedin, January 18. The Otago Rowing Association decided to-night that in view of the expense entailed in sending a crew to Picton to contest the inter-provincial eights, no crew will be selected to represent the province this year. Otago won this race last year when it was held in Dunedin A number of nominations for the crew were forward to to-night’s meeting of the association, but several of these were withdrawn as the oarsmen desired to participate in the Queenstown regatta fixed for the same day as the eights race.
