LANDING ON SOFT GROUND. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph-Copyright.) (Rec. 7.0 p.m.) Koopang, January 18. Air-Commodore Kingsford Smith arrived on Sunday afternoon and landed, despite a danger signal, and stuck in soft ground al the aerodrome as a result of continuous rain. The machine was dragged out of the bog on to a harder patch after two hours’ work. The ground is not fit to permit a start yet, but may improve later to-day. DEPARTURE FOR DARWIN. (Rec. 11.35 p.m.) Koopang, January 18.' Kingsford Smith left at one o’clock for Darwin. TURNED BACK OWING TO BAD WEATHER. (Rec. 1.20 a.m.) Sydney, January 18. The Darwin Station of Aamalgated Wireless, Limited, radioed stating that Kingsford Smith had turned back to Koepang two hours after leaving owing to bad weather.
