RELIEF DEPOT.
To (he Editor. Sir, —Please allow me space' in your valuable neper to show my appreciation for what the relief depot has done to assist me. The goods I received at Christmas ■were the very best, the plum pudding making a splendid addition to our Christmas’ dinner for which I sincerely thank the donors. If the relief depot- was not functioning my wife and family would have had a very dull Christmas and New Year. I might also state that a man on relief work getting three days work for three weeks when he is entitled to four days a week, to keep nine clothed and fed, finds it is imposible to do this on the wages received. If it was not for the forethought of those who contribute weekly to the Mayor’s fund I cannot imagine what the position of the unemployed would be. If all those in steady work could contribute one penny to threepence per week to this fund I am sure that those in distress would benefit considerably through the relief depot. Again thanking you for your valuable space and I sincerely thank the officials at the depot for the help and civility I have received at all times.—l am, etc., FATHER OF SEVEN.
