Although figures are not available from which to make a detailed comparison (says the Evening Post), a pronounced drop in ferry passenger traffic is apparent this year. So far as the Wellington-Lyttelton service is concerned the Christmas traffic is much below that of last year. It has not been found necessary to run daylight trips, the ordinary night sailings meeting requirements. As was anticipated there has been a rush on the accommodation this week, but it has not been sustained to the extent of previous years. Passenger traffic in the Nelson service has been better than anticipated, but still, the number travelling does not compare favourably with the traffic of former years. In this service also the rush for accommodation wag only. ton®oxAQj
