LAND BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING.

A meeting of the Land Board was held on Thursday. Present:—The Commissioner of Crown Lands, Mr B. C. McCabe (chairman), and Messrs J. Hargest, L. A. Niederer and T. Hamilton. Correspondence. Messrs Erskine Bros, applied for a temporary license over the Landing Reserve being Section 10, Block 1 Alton S.D. con-, taining 25 acres. —Approved. Messrs Diamond Bros, applied for a temporary license over Section 170, Block V., Forest Hill Hundred comprising 25 acres.— Resolved that license from year to year be granted at £4 per annum as from 20/8/31. Right to cultivate and grow turnips grant-

ed and land to be sown down in permanent pasture—no right to improvements. Mrs Jane G. Evans applied for a license over Section 55, Block XIX, Jacobs River Hundred containing lac. 3r. 37p.—Resolved that temporary right be granted at a rental of 5/- per annum. Reconsideration of the mode of disposal of Sections 35, 36, 38, 39, and 40, Block XVIII, Jacobs River Hundred comprising 88ac. Ir. 15p., resolve that resolution of July 16, be rescinded and that upon the land being withdrawn from the Mining District in terms of Section 8 of the Mining Act, 1926, the Section be offered for cash or on deferred payment in terms of Section 152 of the Land Act of 1924, at a capital value of £BO, the land being deemed unsuitable for a separate holding on account of its inferior quality for agricultural purposes. Harold Beck applied for a temporary license over Section 234, Block XIII, Wairio S.D., containing 3r. 20p.—Resolved that year to year right be granted at a rental of 5/- per annum. Mrs Catherine Kelland applied for a grazing license over Sections 1 to 32 and 34 to 67, Township of Colac,. comprising approximately 18 acres.—Resolved that, arrears of rent on previous license be reduced to £lO upon payment of which application for license over Sections in town of Colac be granted at a rental of 15/- per month.

Re-consideration of the application of A. Chilton for a grazing right over Section 17 Block VII, Aparima Hundred, comprising 206 acres 3r. 34p.—Resolved that the resolution of July 16, 1931 be rescinded and that grazing rights be granted from month to month at rental of £1 per annum.

Annie B. Shaw applied for permission to burn an area of Run 350 A Von and Upper Wakatipu held by her under Pastoral Run License.—Resolved that permission be granted, no burning to be done after September 30.

George Chalmers applied for permission to Out flax on an area of Crown Land east of Section 17, Block VIII, Campbelltown Hundred.-*-Resolved that permission be granted to cut flax on conditions specified by Field Inspector. A. S. Glozier applied for permission to cut flax on Sections 11-12, Block XI, Campbelltown Hundred comprising 256 acres 2 roods 28 poles.—Resolved that permission to cut flax be granted, on condition specified by Field Inspector. R. W. Tremayne applied for the right to cut flax on an area to the east of Section 15, Block VIII, Campbelltown Hundred.—Resolved that permission be granted to cut flax on conditions specified by Field Inspector. The Conservator of Forests forwarded a scheme of proposed expenditure of Timber

“Fifths” which have accrued to the Southland County Council for the period ended June 30, 1931, and amounting to £l2 14/1. —Approved. The Conservator of Forests submitted for the approval of the board a schedule of proposed expenditure of Timber “Fifths” which have accrued to the Wallace County Council for the period ending June 30, 1931 and amounting to £ll4 14/9.—Approved. The Wallace County Council asked for the temporary transfer of £lOO from the fund accumulating for the improvement of access to Crown Lands and State Forest in Block 111, Longwood S.D. to the road along the North boundary of Section 2, Block XVII, Jacobs River Hundred and leading to Mr Buchanan’s sawmill. —Approved.
