FLOOD DISASTER
INCREASING DANGER THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HOMELESS ENORMOUS STOCK LOSSES (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) Sydney, June 26. Heavy rain continues to fall over most of the flooded areas. The rivers are rising rapidly and the danger to human life and stock is increasing. The residents of the inland towns are becoming gravely alarmed. Thousands of people are homeless, as the flood waters are surrounding their homes and destroying their farm property. The danger is particularly acute at Wagga, where the police rescued nine people from the house-tops. The loss of stock has been tremendous. Gundagai is inundated, while Urana and Adelong are experiencing the worst floods for 40 years. The rivers in north-western Victoria are still rising. Taliangatta is isolated, the water being several feet deep in the main street. Flooded homes are general in many other towns.
