Weather permitting, the Tamatea will sail for Stewart Island at 10.15 a.m. to-day. The Union Company’s steamer Wainui was delayed in discharging on Monday night owing to rain. Completion was reached at 1 p.m. yesterday, the vessel sailing shortly afterwards for Dunedin. The Federal Line steamer Huntingdon sails to-day from Port Chalmers and is due at Bluff to-morrow morning to begin loacL ing frozen meat, cheese and other Southland products. She will probably sail at the week-end for Timaru. The Union Company’s freighter Waipiata was scheduled to clear Lyttelton last evening for Dunedin and Bluff. The vessel is due at Bluff to-morrow and it is hoped to despatch her the same day for Dunedin. The motor liner Rangitata, which left Southampton on June 5, is due at Wellington on July 9 and Lyttelton on July 14. The Somerset, which left Wellington on May 3 for Halifax, Hook of Holland, and London, arrived at London on June 17. Cable advice has been received that the C. and D. Line steamer Port Hunter, which left Wellington on May 21 for Hook of Holland and London, cleared Colon on June 11. Now that the work of lengthening the Ferry wharf for the new ferry steamer , Rangatira is in hand, the Wellington Harbour Board has decided that for the next few months the ferry steamers shall berth at No. 1 Queen’s Wharf. The Maheno, which has been relieving the Maori and Wahine during their periods of overhaul, has had to berth at the-Queen’s Wharf because of her size. The Lyttelton Ferry Wharf is to be lengthened by 40 feet, and the waiting shed is to be extended by 20 feet. The Rangatira is expected to arrive from England in time to take up the summer running in the ferry service. To continue discharge of her Liverpool cargo the Shaw, Savill motor ship Coptic arrived at Wellington on June 18 from Auckland. She was to leave Wellington on Saturday for Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharge. The Coptic will commence her Homeward loading at Port Chalmers, and will subsequently complete at Timaru, Tokomaru Bay and Auckland. She is scheduled to clear Auckland finally on July 15 for Genoa and London, via the Panama canal.

The Swedish motor ship Bullaren was due at Wellington on Monday from Los Angeles, via Auckland, to continue discharging Pacific coast cargo. The Bullaren, which is owned by the Roderi-a.b. Transatlantic, of Gothenburg, is one of the halfdozen or so pioneers of the adoption of the ocean-going motor ships. She was not only the first motor ship owned by the Transatlantic Company, but was also the first of the long series of such vessels built at Gotaverken, Gothenburg. The Bullaren was delivered in June, 1918, and has since been continuously employed in the Australian trade. Up to the end of March she had travelled 644,529 miles. She has never been laid up and has never sustained any serious damage to her machinery. When it is remembered that she has made such nonstop runs as from the Solomon Islands to Marseilles, via the Cape, it may be claimed with some justification that she has proved her worth, and there is little wonder that her builders should be working full capacity on motor ship construction—as they have been for some time past. Personal Items. Captain C. Elders is at present in command of the Komata. - Captain W. H. D. Gardner has taken command of the Kaimanawa at Auckland. Captain C. Sharpe has been appointed to the command of the Opihi. Captain A. F. Inman has been appointed to the command of the Waimea.

1 - ' 1 J HUNTINGDON DUE TO-MORROW. Messrs J. G. Ward and Company, the local agents for the Federal Line, advise that the Huntingdon has been delayed at Dunedin by rain.
