After a week’s trial on charges of fraud, conspiracy and forgery, John Gialdini, in pleading alleged that Hatryites swindled him of £60,000. A deposition by Hatry stated that Gialdini was conversant with all the affairs of the group and added: "We have no animus against him. I should hate to think he was going to share my fate.” Gialdini was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment, but many months already spent in gaol will be deducted from the sentence. He was ordered to pay damages of an unspecified amount to Sir Gilbert Garnsey representing the Hatry companies’ estate, which was sequestrated at the time of the arrest. Gialdini is appealing.
