COMPETITION WINNERS. (Per United Press Association.) Timaru, April 6. The annual conference of the Federated Catholic Clubs of New Zealand was concluded to-day. Visiting delegates were warm in their appreciation of the hospitality extended to them by the local club. The Hayward Shield for competition in debate, religious questions, oratory, elocution, impromptu speaking, tennis and billiards was won by the Timaru Club with 13 points, Christchurch, the holders, coming second with eight points ynd the Dunedin Hibernian Social Debating Club third with seven. Other results were:— Debate: J. C. Mowat and Smith (Dunedin) 268 points, 1; M. T,' Daly and J. Batchelor (Timaru), 267 points 2; J. Kerr and L. E. Carroll (South Dunedin), 261 points, 3. Literary Competition: WzMcAlevy (Dunedin), 1, J. C. Mowat (Dunedin) 2, G. Furbey (Ashburton) 3. Religious Questions: F. Crowle (Timaru) 1, M. Miller (Invercargill) 2, F. Brown (Dunedin) 3. Billiards: J. Lang (Timaru). 1, J. Daly (North East Valley) 2, G Gibb (Dunedin)
