CONCERNED IN FRACAS
RELIEF WORKERS IN COURT. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, April 4. The police and five young relief workers —the latter all more or less drunk—were concerned in a fracas on Thursday evening and the five men were sent to gaol. W’hen they appeared at the Police Court this morning three counts were brought against Sydney John Ball, labourer, aged 28. He was charged with being disorderly and drunk, resisting the police and causing mischief by wilfully damaging a taxi. He pleaded guilty and was sent to gaol for 14 days. The following were each sentenced to three days in gaol for obstructing the police in the execution of their duty: Alexander Stewart McMillan, seaman, aged 21; Ernest Walter Briggs, labourer, aged 23; Richard Llewlleyn Lucas, labourer, aged 21, and Joseph Shannon, labourer, aged 23.
