WINTON’S UNEMPLOYED

“POSITION VERY SATISFACTORY."

(From Our Correspondent.)

“The unemployment position in Winton is very satisfactory at the present time,” stated Councillor N. Metzger, of the Winton Borough Council yesterday. Continuing he stated that the Central Bowling Club had seven men employed in the formation of a bowling green on the Railway Reserve. The work on this reserve was being rationed between all the registered unemployed of the town. Under No. 5 scheme the Winton Borough Council had employed four men. “With the exception of a few single men, practically all the unemployed have been given work,” added Mr Metzger, “but with the closing of the limeworks at Limehills, the figures have risen locally.” • ' >
