COURSE OF CRIME
(Per United Press Association.) Wellington, January 7. Stated to have come from a good family and with his parents’ hearts broken at the course of crime into which he had [dunged, Jack Hands, aged 19, was convicted and ordered to come up within three years for sentence for obtaining clothing from Vance Vivian by means of valueless cheques, and to make restitution of £l3.
It was said the youth had come under the influence of another young man at Napier and had committed thefts there and at Blenheim, Christchurch, Timaru and Ashburton. He had been admitted to three years’ probation at Christchurch and was to appear for sentence on the Napier charge next month. Prior to his association with the other man his character had been excellent. The other man had been sentenced to four months’ imprisonment.
