Miss Mary McCormack, of the staff of the Taranaki Education Board, has been appointed sole teacher of the Oreti Plains School. Mr W. F. Alexander, editor of the Dunedin Evening Star, who has been spending his vacation at Stewart Island, will be a passenger for the north by the express this morning. Mr ,1. A. Singleton, B.Se., a son of Mr W. M. Singleton, Director of the Dairy Division, has joined the staff of the Ryal Bush Dairy Factory for the purpose of gaining practical experience of the Southland methods of the manufacture of cheese before resuming his course at Massey College. Professor Percival, who has been at To Anau investigating problems connected with trout foods and factors affecting fish life, accompanied by Mr H. E. Hobbs, secretary of the Central Research Committee, arrives in Invercargill by car this ln the evening he will lecture on Irout Problems.” He leaves on Friday for Tckapo where he will carry out further investigations before returning to Christchurch.
