Air Cook, once well-known in Invercargill as an officer of the Commercial Bank, is now a member of the stall of the same bank in Wellington. At present he is relieving accountant at Alotueka, Nelson. A meeting of the Bluff Cricket Club was held on Tuesday evening, the president, Air T. Stewart, being in the chair, lhe secretary was instructed to purchase all necessary material to keep the club’s supply up to the usual standard. It was reported that the grass on the grounds was receiving attention, and that the playing area should be in capital order for the resumption of competition games next Saturday. Satisfaction was expressed at the information that lady supporters of the club are diligently rehearsing for a revue to be staged in the near future. . A dance will follow the entertainment, and it is hoped the club funds will be considerably swelled Irom these sources. Members are keen to get into action again, and there will be no lack of players next Saturday. On Tuesday night the social club of the s.s. Rotorua gave a dance in Barber's Hall which proved a successtul and enjoyable function. Arrangements were in the hands of Aiessrs A. and L. Duncan, while Mr A. C. Hattley acted as M.C. hirst class dance music was supplied by the ship’s orchestra, known as the "Whoopee Band.” During the evening mouth organ solos by Mr Vv. Johnston iound great favour with those present.

That the cricketers on board the R.M.S. Corinthic enjoyed their stay in port, and appreciated the action of the local club in placing ground and material at their disposal, was shown in a letter from the team’s captain (Mr C. W. Armstrong) which has been received by Mr R. Vincent, of the local club. To the latter fell the arranging of the series of matches which provided a welcome break in the routine of ship life for the visitors. On behalf of the Corinthic team, Mr Armstrong expressed sincere thanks for the courtesy shown them by the Bluff Club, Mr Vincent and other players, and mentioned that all the games were played in a true sporting spirit. It was seven years since the vessel was last at Bluff, the letter stated, but the cricketing fraternity hoped her next absence would be much briefer. All had had a royal time during the Corinthic’s stay in port through the Christmas and New Year holidays, and many happy memories of the south would be carried away by the players. In conclusion, Mr Armstrong wished the Bluff Club a pleasant time in its remaining fixtures for the season. On behalf of local cricketers, Mr Vincent has suitably replied to the letter.
