SERIOUS CHARGES
INCITING SPEECHES. WELLINGTON PROSECUTIONS. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, December 20. Speeches made in Dixon street last Sunday night led to the arrest yesterday- of John Joseph Robinson, a miner, aged 30, and Richard Francis Griffin, a bookseller, aged 30, who appeared before Mr McNeil, S.M., to-day, charged with inciting divers persons unknown to resist, assault or obstruct constables in the execution of their duty, inciting to lawlessness, and causing the traffic to be obstructed. Griffin was also charged with using insulting words. . Mr Yaldwyn, for accused, asked for a remand and for bail. Sub-Inspector Ward said the offences were regarded by the Department as serious. The Magistrate granted a remand and fixed bail in one surely of £250 or two of £l5O for each man. ANOTHER 31 AN ARRESTED “OUR. DAY WILL COME." (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, December 20. P. G. Brazier, one of the speakers at the recent meeting of the unemployed, was arrested this afternoon on a charge of inciting at Wellington on December 14. Brazier submitted quietly to arrest, saying, “Our day will come” as he prepared to go away- with the detectives.
