GENERAL ELECTION
DUNEDIN SOUTH REFORM CANDIDATE. MR D. C. CAMERON NOMINATED. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, December 19. A representative gathering of electors on the Dunedin South electorate waited upon Mr D. C. Cameron to-day with a request that he allow himself to be nominated in the Reform Party’s interests at the next general election. Mr Cameron stated his willingness to place himself in the hands of the Party supporters and assured the deputation that, whether selected as the official Reform candidate or not, his efforts would be directed towards returning that Party to power.
Mr Cameron was born in Dunedin and has been a resident of St. Kilda for the past 26 years. He served for a number of years as a Councillor and is an ex-Mayor of St. Kilda. He takes a keen interest in educational affairs and has served on the Musselburgh School Committee for 20 years, for ten of which he was chairman. He is also past-president and life-member of the School Committees’ Association. He is prominent and popular in bowling circles being a member for the Dominion of New Zealand Bowling Council and ex-president of the Dunedin Bowling Centre. He has been actively connected, since boyhood, with the firm of Messrs Reid and Gray Limited, and his connection with matters industrial has been such as to bring him in close contact with the worker, while, at the same time, giving him a due appreciation of the difficulties of the primary producer.
His candidature promises to be well supported.
