BRADMAN PUNISHES GRIMMETT
INNINGS CLOSES AT 258
(United Press Assn.— By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 11.15 p.m.) Adelaide, December 18. A Sheffield Shield match between South Australia and New South Wales was commenced to-day. New South Wales batted first and when stumps were drawn had scored 455 for the loss of three wickets (Bradman 258, Jackson 166, Kippax not out, 20.) There was a great duel between the world’s best batsman and the world’s best googly bowler, Grimmett. The crowd was treated to a rare exhibition of slogging by Bradman, who punished Grimmett as never before.
Jackson batted in masterly fashion, making many brilliant strokes. He was also confident.
QUEENSLAND v. VICTORIA.
(Rec. 10.30 p.m.) Melbourne, December 18. In a Sheffield Shield match against Queensland, Victoria in the first innings have lost five wickets for 303 (Ryder 114, Rigg 125).
